Emma Elizabeth McFerrin (Jones), aged 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 30, 2018, at Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. She was born October 15, 1927, in Pawnee City, Nebraska, to Charles Elmer Jones and Mary (Mabel) Isabelle (Berger) Jones. She was a 1945 graduate of Auburn High School. She married Albert William McFerrin on October 24, 1945, in Auburn, Nebraska. She worked as an assembly worker with Avon from 1957 to 1984, when Avon closed their plant in Kansas City. She retired from the IRS after 7 years of service from 1986 to 1993. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and was involved with the PTO Sorority. Always very involved with her parish at St. Matthews, she sang in the church choir, and participated with the rosary making group for many years. Emma truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; she felt joy in her involvement in her community, and spending time with her family. Emma was a woman with an amazing heart. She truly lived her life as an example of Christian love for others. She was so generous in spirit and love. She didn’t live with a judgmental eye, but one of compassion for others. She was strong and steady and beautifully humble as well. Emma was preceded in death by her husband Albert, her son Ronald William, and her daughter Lila Eileen. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Martha Mellas (McFerrin); a son, Philip David McFerrin; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren; as well as many first and great nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family, friends, and others whose lives Emma touched are invited to a visitation at SPEAKS FUNERAL HOME, 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, MO 64055, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2018, to reminisce, grieve, and support each other. The rosary will be said at 6 p.m. The funeral will be held at St. Matthew Apostle Parish, 8001 Longview Rd, Kansas City, MO 64134, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018. A procession will follow to Mt. Olivet, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO, after which, family and friends will re-convene at St. Matthews for fellowship and remembrance. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at (Arrangements: Speaks Suburban Chapel (816) 373-3600)

Aunt Emma was a very special lady and I enjoyed her company. She was always welcoming, kind, and hospitable. I most enjoyed seeing and listening to her when she visited with her siblings as they had a true bond of love. I am very grateful that I got to be part of her family, she will be missed. Love and Peace to you all, Roxann
